Elijah translated from the Hebrew, means “strength of the Lord”. From 1 Kings 17:4, The Lord spoke to Elijah, “You shall drink of the stream, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. From This icon illustrates major events in the life of Saint Elijah The Prophet. He is shown in the center against the dark opening of a cave. Above can be seen a raven bringing him food. In the bottom left corner; Saint Elijah the Prophet is dividing the waters of Jordan. Above this scene is his disciple Elisha stretching his arms out after the fiery cloud carrying Elijah away in a chariot steered by the Angel. Amid the clouds in the top left corner is The Lord God.
