Saint John Baptist

Image Description
John The Baptist, The Forerunner or Precursor of Christ is one of the prominent and most frequently painted figures in iconography and history. He was an ascetic and hermit who preached repentance as he baptized in the river Jordan. After baptizing Christ in the River Jordan John starts to decrease while Christ increases. From John 1:20-23, “The voice of The Lord crying in the wilderness, make straight the path of The Lord.” On the scroll can be found "Behold The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." The Conception of Saint John The Baptist is celebrated September 23.
